Rocky Kanaka Creates A Tinder-Inspired Game For Potential Dog Parents

Rocky Kanaka Creates A Tinder-Inspired Game For Potential Dog Parents

Jeni Hans March 18, 2020

Back in the old days, suitors needed to cross seas and mountains just to prove their love to a maiden. But nowadays, all that people need to do is log on to their smartphones and swipe right on Tinder. Yes, we know, it’s such an anti-climax, but that’s how technology works; it makes everything easier for us, humans.

On top of that, technology makes things entertaining, and when people are entertained, they have a positive experience. That is what Rocky Kanaka wished to give these potential dog parents by setting up a real-life version of Tinder, but instead of people dating, it’s for shelter dogs and their potential parents.

So if for some reason you aren’t aware of how Tinder works, we can fill you in. Basically, Tinder is a mobile phone application where users find people to date by looking at their photos and descriptions. If they don’t like the person, they swipe left on their phone. But if they like the person shown to them, they swipe right.

If that person also swiped right on you, a chatbox will appear so that the two of you can talk, and decide whether or not you want to go out with each other. In Rocky’s version, the people looking for dogs to adopt will swipe left or right to the dogs that Rocky shows them. Of course, the dogs have no option to swipe left or right on the humans on this version of Tinder.

But since all of them are shelter dogs looking for homes, we can presume that the pups will always swipe right. Once the humans swipe right on a couple of dogs, they then need to decide which dog they want to go on a playdate with. After the playdate, the humans will then decide if they will adopt the dog or not.

Rocky makes it fun by making the experience filled by with humor, as he usually does. When a dog is presented to the potential parents, Rocky reads their supposed “bio,” which describes the dog’s personality, and just like how Tinder is, witty bios can get people’s attention. In this episode, one dog named Cheyenne found her forever home. Hopefully, more dogs will be as lucky as her.
