Protective Dog Exposes Abusive Babysitter

Protective Dog Exposes Abusive Babysitter

Jeni Hans February 29, 2020

Finding the perfect baby sitter can be a daunting task. You are primarily looking for a stranger in which you are going to hand your precious baby over. While ideally, we all want to take care of our children ourselves; circumstances can prevent us from doing so. So we must find someone that we can trust.

We do everything that we can to ensure that we find a person that will love our children and take care of them as we would. Unfortunately, even with the due diligence of checking up on a perfect stranger and their records, there is still that chance that we may find the wrong one. Such was the case with Benjamin and Hope Jordan.

The young South Carolina couple needed a babysitter for their 7-month-old baby, Finn. They made every precaution to ensure that they find the right babysitter. They did lots of interviews and numerous background checks. They thought that when they hired Alexis Kahn that they have made the right choice.

A dog’s instinct

While it seemed that Kahn fitted their requirements, the couple’s dog seemed to think otherwise. Killian, the family’s mild-mannered Labrador, started acting out whenever Kahn was around. It seemed as if the dog knew something they didn’t. The Jordans also noticed that Killian was becoming extra-protective of Finn when Kahn is around.

Fortunately, the couple decided to act on their instincts and heed the message that their dog seems to be sending them. So they set up surveillance. Using a phone and a series of baby monitors, they were able to record Kahn abusing their baby. Evidently, Kahn was yelling and cursing at their baby, and would also hit him.

The couple immediately reported Kahn to the authorities, where the babysitter pleads guilty to assault and battery. She will be sent to prison for up to three years. The Jordans are thankful that Killian warned them. If it wasn’t for the loyal and protective dog, who knows what Kahn would have further done to their baby.
