Stormi was just a small pit bull puppy when she was found abandoned in a park. The young pooch was all skin and bones and left inside a basket. She was so weak that she could barely move her body. By the time she was taken to a hospital, the medical team had feared that she wouldn’t make it through the night.
But Jessica, a veterinary nurse working in that clinic, saw that the dog was trying to survive. When they locked eyes, she felt that Stormi was asking for her help. She decided right there and then to volunteer to take care of the pup.
Huge milestone
Once Jessica was back home, she set up a comfortable space for the pup to recover. It was like a mini-hospital room. Stormi had an IV attached to her, and the kind nurse made sure that she was stable. When morning came, she was overjoyed to see that the puppy was still alive, and she seemed to be looking better.
As each day passed, Stormi showed little but steady progress. When she finally started wagging her tail, Jessica couldn’t help but get emotional. It was a massive milestone for the puppy who was on the brink of death just a few days earlier.
Big sister
As Stormi grew stronger, Jessica introduced the pup to her three other dogs. One of them, a Rottweiler named Elle, became very close to the young pit bull. She acted like a surrogate mother and became very protective of her new friend.
The two constantly played together and would even sleep side by side. With Elle by her side, Stormi became more confident.
Jessica eventually realized that Stormi belonged to her family. The growing pup was already where she was supposed to be. So the loving vet nurse formally adopted her.
Stormi never needs to worry about being alone again. She now has a loving family that she can rely on.
