Loving Foster Mom Teaches Snarling Dog To Trust Again

Loving Foster Mom Teaches Snarling Dog To Trust Again

Jeni Hans July 17, 2020

A poodle mix named Legs went through so much that he doesn’t trust humans anymore. Thankfully, he met a loving woman who volunteered to foster him. Legs’s foster mom showed him how to love.

Legs’s story

When the rescuers of an organization called Dogs Without Borders found Legs, he had lacerations on all of his Legs. They surmised that he might have been dragged by a car, and possibly suffered abuse before that. They baptized him “Legs” because of his injuries.

Legs wasn’t the best dog to adopt. He snarled at growled at people. He didn’t trust humans, especially women. The vets thought Legs was a hopeless case and suggested to put him down. Thankfully, Legs gets a second shot at life after an organization called Dogs Without Borders intervened.

Dogs Without Borders worked hard to place Legs to a foster home to give him time to heal and prep him for adoption. At first, the organization wanted a male foster parent who has some medical knowledge. But as fate would have it, Legs ended up under the wing of a female foster parent, Brooke Wilson.

Legs was renamed to Corks. Brooke was more than happy to take in Corks and give him all the love and care he needs. At first, Corks didn’t trust Brooke and her roommates. But as time passed by, Corks learned that not all humans want to hurt him.

From Legs to Corks

Coral and Brooke bonded so much over their first few months together. Brooke realized she couldn’t be apart from this dog she came to love, so she decided to adopt Corks. This set-up works for Corks wonderfully because he loves his mom so much as well.

Brooke admits it was challenging to take in an injured and untrusting dog. She’s still amazed when she looks at Corks today, who is now super playful, loving, and cuddly. He has gone a long way from that snarling injured stray to becoming a healthy and affectionate pup that he is today. And that’s all because of love.
