Dog Shelter Receives Products From A Supplement Company To Help Address Mobility Issues Of Senior Dogs

Jeni Hans September 21, 2020

Each year, millions of dogs and other animals in pet shelters are waiting for families that will love them and take them with them. Unfortunately, many people favor younger animals over older pets. And older pets with mobility issues may find it difficult and even impossible to get adopted.

But there are companies and organizations that are willing to help these shelters take care of their senior residents. YuMove, a dog supplement company, is one of them. As part of their campaign called Get Moving, the said company has been donating joint supplements to different shelters across the country.

A commitment to make the lives of dogs much better

A dog shelter in Tampa, Florida named Elfie’s Refuge has been one of the many rescue homes that have received free YuMove supplements. And the shelter has seen great results.

Elfie’s Refuge is a good candidate for YuMove’s campaign since its founder, Elfie Rodriguez, has been going out of her way to rescue senior dogs and find them new homes. Elfie says that she has started out with fostering for some groups. But as the younger dogs are finding new homes, her heart is drawn to the grey faces of senior dogs that are left behind; this is the reason she founded Elfie’s Refuge.

The shelter does not only accept senior dogs. It is also taking care of dogs with serious illnesses and disabilities. While some are adopted, others get to spend their last days with Elfie’s Refuge being loved.

A success story at Elfie’s Refuge

One of the senior dogs that have benefitted from YuMove’s free supplements is a 12-year-old pup named Lizzo. After taking the joint supplement for weeks, Lizzo has gone from a dog with a limping gait to a pup with a stable walk; she even acts like a puppy again.

Elfie says that Lizzo used to be very grumpy, but she believes that it might be because of the pain. But now that she is moving freely again, Lizzo has become happy, allowing people to touch her once more.
