A dog who is an adventurer by heart cannot be stopped by his disability to explore the world.
Mel is an eight-year-old pit bull mix who has a neurological disease that affected his balance. Because of his condition, his mobility is limited.
Mel was from Yonkers Animal Shelter in New York. Tom Dilworth, a professional photographer and adventurer, adopted him. When Tom saw Mel at the shelter, his heart melted when Mel placed his head on his leg. He felt that Mel chose him.
When Tom got Mel at the shelter, Mel isn’t bound in a wheelchair yet. He noticed that Mel would often fall or walk like a drunk person. Later on, it became worse.
Tom brought Mel to the vet for a check-up. It was found out that Mel has a neurological disorder. The disease does not hurt Mel, but it makes him move around with difficulty.
To help Mel with his mobility, Tom has decided to get a wheelchair for Mel. He got a wheelchair at Eddie’s Wheels for Pets.
Mel got excited when he used the wheelchair for the first time. At first, he had difficulty walking, but after a few steps, he got used to it. Tom gave him a pat for a job well done.
Now that Mel is in a wheelchair, Tom thought of bringing him to his travels across the country.
Mel surely loves going to new places with Tom. His disability did not stop him from wandering and walking for miles. When he gets tired, Tom will pull his wheelchair, so Mel can take a rest from walking.
Tom also loves taking photos of Mel during their trips. You can see a lot of Mel’s travel photos on Instagram.
Mel and Tom had traveled to most states in the US. Mel is one lucky dog!
