In the middle of a heavy snowstorm, rescue partners Fiona and Wil of Northeast Animal Rescue in Liaoning, China headed out to save a dog seen in a frozen river. They quickly arrived at the site but they didn’t see any sign of the pup or any animal for that matter. It was a bit challenging to see the surrounding areas because everything was covered with snow.
The rescuers continued to search the vicinity and eventually, they saw a little black hairy dog in the river. They rushed toward the pup but it walked away. Fortunately, it stopped so they caught up with it.
Fiona walked toward the dog and she was surprised that it did not run away. It didn’t seem fearful of people but it wasn’t so trusting either. And while it was hesitant at first, it gladly accepted the food she offered.
After Fiona fed the dog, Wil stepped closer and started befriending it. He knew the pup was uneasy so he took his time and worked on gaining its trust. Gradually, he connected with the dog and named it Archon.
Wil showed Archon the leash to get the pup used to it. And while it showed resistance when he looped it on the little guy’s neck, it only took a few seconds for it to calm down. Later on, the rescuer scooped up the dog and carried it to the car.
No one knew how long Archon was out in the cold. He was utterly wet and he shivered uncontrollably. So with the use of a blanket, Fiona helped keep him warm until they made it to the vet’s office.
Archon was weak and his body temperature was incredibly low. Besides that, he also had ulcerated gums. But fortunately enough, his condition wasn’t that bad and he didn’t need to stay at the hospital for long.
Once Archon recovered, Fiona led him back to society. She prepped him and soon enough he was ready for a fresh start.
Archon found his happy ending when a kind woman came and offered him a home. After struggling on the streets for who knew how long, he finally got to spend his days safe and warm in the arms of his new mom.
