Abused Street Dog Is Too Scared To Walk, Traumatized By Fear

Abused Street Dog Is Too Scared To Walk, Traumatized By Fear

Senna is a stray Pittie Mix that suddenly popped out in a neighborhood. Rescuers came to save her, but she evaded them for a week.

One rainy day, volunteers received a call describing a dog that looks like Senna. They rushed to the scene, and amidst the downpour, they recognized her. Knowing that the dog would run away if they try to get near her, they set up a trap.

They then patiently waited inside their car. After a while, the dog went near the trap but was reluctant to go inside entirely. She smelled the food but was confused about the situation. Nevertheless, hunger took over, and the dog took the bait. When the door of the cage snapped close, the rescuers went out of the car to get the scared and confused dog.

Saving Senna

The rescuers brought Senna to a hospital. There she was given several tests to determine her state of health. Thankfully, nothing was wrong with her. So they took Senna to their foster home. There they realized that Senna was still terrified. The dog refused to move from her bed. She would lay still just looking around the space. If they wanted to bring Senna outside or to another room, they had to carry her.

They would bring Senna to the backyard, and there she would sit or lay still. The dog refuses to move and would sometimes shiver in fear. They saw in her eyes that she was scared of everything around her. They would sit with the dog for hours, talking to her and rubbing her fur. They were determined to show the dog that she was now safe. She is in an environment where she is loved.

With lots of patience, Senna eventually understood. She learned to give trust to the people around her. She would now walk out of her room, although she would still be cautious with every move that she made. She walked slowly and would keep on looking around her. To her rescuers, these little victories are the most gratifying reward that they could get. As Senna learns how to trust and be a happy dog, they feel delighted in the progress that she makes.
