A woman in Compton noticed a Pitbull mix underneath a broken jeep parked outside her mechanic shop. She sent a message to iPittytheBull Foundation, an organization dedicated to rescuing dogs. The director, Terra Nokes, received the message and sent Briana O’Leary along with one other volunteer to rescue the dog.
Briana and her companion drove from Chino Hills to get the dog. When they arrived, the dog would not leave her place. She used food to coax her out from underneath the car. She had to earn her trust and not scare her away.
When the dog was within reach, she quickly put a leash on her. The dog did not panic nor try to get away. Instead, she seemed grateful to have someone come and get her.
Briana decided to name her Stella. She immediately brought her to Anaheim Hills Pet Clinic. The dog was limping, and she had wounds on her face and back. It was also apparent that she was dehydrated and malnourished.
The doctors found out that her injuries were signs of use and abuse. Her wounds were chemical burns. She also had internal injuries from getting kicked repeatedly.
They believed that she crawled under the car to die. It was fortunate that she was found in time and got medical help. The first few weeks went by with a series of tests and uncertainty about her health.
Eventually, she started recovering. Everyone was amazed at how resilient she was and how fast she healed.
Her foster mom cared for her while her internal and external injuries healed. Stella also underwent social rehabilitation. When her physical and emotional health had improved, she was all smiles and very active. They could see that she was appreciative of her life.
After a month, they let Stella choose her family. They wanted to really make sure that there was a real connection. She chose to be with Jenna Hardy and her husband, who had been following her story. They adopted her, and she eventually became the best big sister to a baby named Summer.
