Dina was a volunteer at an animal shelter called Love and Rescue. One day at work, she received a call about an injured puppy on a random woman’s porch. Without hesitation, she immediately went to rescue him.
To the rescue
Once Dina arrived at the location, she saw the dog and carefully picked him up. She searched around the area to see if the puppy’s mother was present but to no prevail.
Dina carefully examined the dog and saw that he had a big wound on his back. She decided to name him Bernard and then took him to the local vet.
During the car ride to the vet, Bernard was fussy and kept crying the entire way. Once the two of them arrived, the vet gave the puppy some painkillers.
After the check-up, Dina took Bernard home but the puppy still cried nonstop. Dina had the bright idea to give Bernard a bottle of milk which he finished within minutes.
Journey to forever home
Once Bernard’s wounds began to heal, he gained more function and control over his back legs. He started to walk and run all over the house, never giving up despite tripping a few times.
Bernard seemed to find comfort in a colorful stuffed bear that Dina owned. He tried to drag it everywhere he went even despite it being twice his size. Day by day, he grew confident and got more comfortable in his foster home.
After a few months, Bernard’s wound fully healed. A kind woman named Angelica visited the shelter and fell in love with the puppy. She adopted him and renamed him, Diego.
Even though he was in a new home, Diego still sought comfort from his favorite rainbow bear. Diego grew up to be a playful yet gentle dog which Angelica loved.
