Global News chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell was on-air at the time and describing the weekend weather forecast for the different areas in Canada when his pup, a miniature Goldendoodle named Storm, suddenly approached him. Then, the pup popped into the screen much to the delight of the many viewers watching the live broadcast. As the story turned out, Storm was demanding some treats from his dad.
But thanks to Farnell’s professionalism, the two finished the segment without a hitch even though Storm’s appearance was unexpected. Farnell expertly included him in his weather forecast, describing what his pup was doing and all the while explaining the weather and discussing dangers that viewers could probably face in the coming days.
After Storm’s recent appearance on his dad’s live weather report, he immediately became a social media sensation. The TikTok video that captured the moment quickly earned over two million views while the official news clip which was uploaded to the Global News YouTube channel already hit almost half a million views.
But interestingly, this was not the first time that Storm made an appearance on a live broadcast of Global News.
A few years back, Farnell was working on his maps while Global Toronto anchor Leslie Roberts was doing a live broadcast. He had brought in Storm with him and thought his pup was just under his desk the whole time. But to the surprise of the anchor doing the broadcast, Storm popped in behind his desk and stole the spotlight from him.
Farnell was not aware of the whole situation until after a couple of minutes when he glanced up to see the TV monitor and saw his pup beside the anchor. It was just a really hilarious and at the same time adorable interaction moment on TV.
