Morgan McKenzie, a woman who owns a big piece of land in Delaware, went out for a stroll one morning. While doing so, she heard a cat meowing. She decided to investigate what she was hearing and Morgan discovered that a little kitten was hidden under a hollow log. She decided to leave the white and gray kitten alone thinking that its mother would return.
Morgan returned to check on the kitten when night came. She was still able to hear the faint cries emanating from within the piece of wood. And when she checked, she saw that the kitten was still alone and realized that its mother would not be returning for it.
Morgan took the kitten from the log and saw that it was just a week old. The ears of the kitten were still folded and it was hungry. She decided to rescue the kitten, bring it home, and was surprised when her Labrador took a great deal of interest in it.
The woman chose the name Polly for the kitten. While the kitten was being bathed, Morgan’s Labrador, who is twelve years old, entered to observe. Paxton, Morgan’s dog, was instantly in love with Polly.
Soon, Paxton was cleaning up Polly after each feeding. Polly’s eyes were still closed, so the little kitten could not really see how big her caretaker’s dog was.
Polly began to stand as still as possible so she could hear Paxton’s approaching footsteps. When she heard Paxton, she would dash over to his location.
Polly’s eyes soon opened and her vision became clear after five weeks. Morgan stated that Polly has never experienced anything other than her relationship with the huge Labrador retriever, therefore she sees their relationship as perfectly normal. Morgan also said that Polly grooms Paxton, and Morgan is confident Polly is unaware that she is a cat.
Paxton is currently thirteen years old, and Polly is only five months old. Polly has become more energetic and resembles a hyperactive younger sibling around the senior Labrador. Even when Polly takes his toys, Paxton exhibits great patience.
